Our journey will commence in the picturesque Salzburg area before venturing southward into new territory for us\, the enchanting realm of Italy’s Dolomites. After indulging in two unforgettable days there\, we will embark on an evening section in Slovenia exclusively for the Trial Class\, followed by another captivating leg in Austria and a visit to the Czech Republic. Our journey will culminate where it all began\, followed by an evening of memories that will linger long after the event concludes\, and this time\, not 130 meters underground but 664 meters above sea-level! \nWhat is The Winter Trial?\n\nThe Winter Trial is a six-day regularity rally for classic cars which takes place in the winter.\nIt is an experience driving on snowy roads through rough landscapes whilst navigation your way and try to stay as close as possible to the set times. The teams will drive approximately 350 km per day\, and the experienced teams also drive two night loops of an additional 150 km per night.\n\n\n\n		\n		\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n\n\n\nWhat can you expect?\nScrutineering/Signing on – 25 january 2025\,\nSalzburgring\, Austria 10:00 – 15:00\nLeg 0\, Practice Regularities – 25 january 2025\,\nStart/Finish: Arabella Jagdhof\, Hof bei Salzburg\nStart – 26 January 2025\,\nSalzburgring\, 8:30\nFinish – 31 January 2025 \nCars – Classic cars build before 1986 (till 31-12-1985)\nLength – approx. 2.500 km\nNavigation type – Basic map reading & tulips\nCompetition – Regularity’s\, driving tests \nHistory\nThe first ever Winter Trial was organized in 2001. This event was won by Roger Byford and Willy Cave\, driving an MGB. This first edition went from The Netherlands southwards through the Alps to finish in Monte-Carlo. Since then\, we visited all countries in Europe where there is a reasonable snow expectation. Last year The Winter Trail started and finished in Krakow after a week of fun in Poland\, Slowakia and the Czech Republic. The winners were crowned in the Wieliczka Saltmines\, some 130 meters under ground. For the second time\, the first prize was claimed by Rob van Leeuwen and Maurits Verhoeff.\n\n\n\n\n		\n		\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n\n\n What is new for 2025?\nA completely new route in the Italian Dolomites\, Slovenia and Austria. \nI am new to the Winter Trial\, is that a problem?\nThat definitely is not a concern. In December 2024 we will organize an afternoon for the newcomers to teach you the tips and tricks.\n\nWho can compete?\n\nIf you have a valid driving license and common sense\, good humour and an interest in having fun and a classic car than you can enter!\nWhat type of car is eligible?\n\n\nThere will be two categories: Vintage cars of a type in production before the end of 1948\, and Classic cars of a type in production before the end of 1985. Whichever type you decide to bring is completely free. However\, it should be safe and reliable\, have a fuel range of at least 300 km\, and be fitted with an accurate trip meter. \nWhat class should I enter?\n\n\nWe have two classes: The Challenge Class drives the full daytime route\, but does not drive the evening loops. They spend more time in the bar and have lots of fun.The Trial Class is much more competitive. You need a more experienced navigator and be willing to drive two evening loops of about 3 hours each.\n\n\n\n		\n		\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n\n     Do I need a competition license?\n\n\nYes you do\, and you will be responsible for your own license. Dutch drivers via the KNAF\, foreign drivers through their own ASN. \n\n\n\nDo I need to be a professional rally driver/navigator?\nThis is not a speed event but a road rally\, run within normal traffic rules. You do not need helmets or fireproof overalls.  Above all\, the event is intended to be friendly and fun; with time to socialize with your fellow participants and enjoy the scenery.\n\nWhat does the entry fee include?\n\nYou are guaranteed 6 days of wonderful driving roads with hopefully a lot of snow. The routebook will and mapbook will be issued to you at signing on the day before the start of the event. The whole route will remain a secret till the very last minute.\nAccommodation and all dinners (including drinks) and lunches are included\, from the welcome dinner the evening before the start to the prize giving dinner at the finish. Every crew completing the rally will receive finisher’s awards\, and overall and class winners will also be presented with trophies. Dedicated parking\, metal rally plates and number roundels will also be provided. A team of marshals and mechanics will tag along to ensure the most smiles per mile and make sure we will all reach the finish line.\nNot included in the entry fee is your bar bill\, fuel\, vehicle insurance and car shipping to the start and from the finish back home.\n\nEntry fee\n\n\nA deposit of €1.500 will secure your entry for the event. A balance of €4.890 is then payable before 1 May 2024 (and €5.190 after May 1st.). \nEntrée fee if fully paid before May 1\, 2024 €6.390\nEntrée fee if fully paid after June 1 but before September 1\, 2024 €6.690\nEntrée fee paid after September 1\, 2024 €6.990\nPlease contact the Rally Office for more information.\nBy filling out the entry form and submitting your entry to the rally office\, you agree to the terms as stated in our event regulations.

De samenstelling is volledig vrij en juist dát maakt Classic Legends uniek.\nAlles kan\, zolang de liefde voor klassieke auto’s en rallysport wordt gedeeld. \nThe Rookies Battle – zaterdag 5 september 2026\nDe rally vindt plaats op zaterdag 5 september 2026\, met start en finish in het prachtige Salland\, midden in het oostelijke deel van Nederland.\nDe officiële rallynaam van deze editie luidt: \nClassic Legends\nEen dag vol rijden\, leren\, genieten en samenwerken.\nMeerdere klassen\, voor elk niveau\nClassic Legends is toegankelijk voor zowel ervaren als minder ervaren equipes. Inspired by the philosophy behind events such as the Winter Trial\, the Grand Prix de Champagne becomes a genuine map reading event\, a serious preparation for crews who wish to sharpen their skills ahead of the Winter Trial.\nPure rallying — as it was meant to be. \nThe Spirit of the Event\nClassic rallying was born from adventure\, precision and teamwork. The Grand Prix de Champagne 2026 captures exactly that essence: accurate navigation\, disciplined timekeeping and well-balanced regularity sections across some of the most atmospheric roads in Western Europe.\nEach day brings approximately 250–300 kilometres of carefully crafted route. Expect classic map reading systems and challenging navigation sections that demand full concentration from both driver and co-driver. The regularities are designed to offer exactly the right level of competition to prepare you for the tougher winter event. \nAn Enchanting but Demanding Route\nOur rally begins at the legendary Circuit de Gueux near Reims — a fitting tribute to motorsport heritage. From there\, crews will navigate through:\n• The rolling vineyards of Champagne\n• The quiet D-roads of northern France\n• The wooded hills and valleys of Luxembourg\n• The technical backroads of Belgium\nEach evening\, competitors return to carefully selected château-style hotels\, where fine dining\, excellent wines and shared rally stories complete the day. Because true classic rallying balances competition with camaraderie. \nRally Format\n• Four days of rallying\n• Approximately 1\,000 km total distance\n• Based from premium château hotels\n• Minimum four regularity sections per day\n• Challenging navigation sections (map reading & tulips)\n• Accurate timekeeping\n• Driving tests at selected locations\n• Mechanical support and experienced marshals\n• Informal evening results\n• Traditional Gala Prize Giving Dinner \nNo tour class. Over the next few decades rallies like the Classic Marathon and Monte Carlo Challenge gave hundreds of enthusiasts all over Europe and beyond the opportunity to drive\, and re-live\, the golden days of rallying. \nSadly\, Philip is no longer with us but some of those competitors\, along with a few of his original organising team\, have got together to organise a special event in his memory. \nBased at Annecy in the French Alps\, the three day event harks back to the essence of rallying as Philip originally intended. Dramatic Alpine passes\, remote mountain roads and pretty rural villages all strung together by accurate navigation and a testing timetable – the kind of driving your classic or vintage car was built for. \nAnd\, at the end of each day\, you return to the same hotel terrace overlooking Lac d’Annecy with new memories to share over dinner and a few drinks!
